Crossfit Level 1
USAW Level 1
Bio: I've exercised and played sports my entire life. When I retired from men's club rugby and pretty much all organized sports, I was missing something. I kept training the usual programs you'd see in Muscle & Fitness but never really got anywhere. Then in 2007, a friend of mine at the firehouse introduced me to Crossfit. After I argued with him about our philosophical differences in our approach to fitness, I decided to give it a try. It was EXACTLY what I was looking for. During my first workout, I was blown away by how physically challenging it was. I thought I was in pretty good shape. Then I realized the mental aspect of Crossfit, getting through the moment of self-doubt, unsure whether or not you can even finish, was even more important! As I dug deeper into Crossfit, I got so much stronger and more fit. After years of training in my garage and studying Crossfit, I decided it was time to become a better athlete and get certified to be a trainer. In 2012, I got my Level 1 cert and learned during the group workout how much I missed the camaraderie of achieving a common goal with your peers. From that point on, I knew I had to become a trainer and share my experience with as many people I could reach. Crossfit is just too good not to share. I was a trainer at a local box for about a year and a half and left to join these guys to form Stone Age Crossfit. We proudly serve the local community, in which most of us were born and raised, and strive to bring them up to a high level of fitness, safely and thoughtfully.
